Survivor Assembly

As I walked into the hall I saw a lot of teachers dressed up in different kind of costumes. Team 1s show was about the zoo and they did a karaoke. The song was called roar by Katy Perry. It's time for team 2 on the stage. Team 2s movie was about them dancing to a song and they were dressed up as dinosaurs.

During the assembly team 4 teachers put together a movie about different animals and the different habitat that they come from. In their movie they had kids on green screen guessing what kind of animal is behind them.

Lastly it was time for team 5 to go on the stage to do their skit. Their show was about eating noodles with chopsticks. All the teachers were struggling to use the chopsticks. At the end of the skit it was all about adaptation. The show was finished and Miss Clark was the winner.

Fractions, Decimals & Percentages

How To Save Money.

How can we save money? You can save money by switching off the plug after your using it or by turning off the light you need it. And you can also save money by have a 3 min shower couse you save the hot walter so you don’t have pay that much for  the walter bill.

Another way is to think before you buy. For example when your parents send you to the shop to buy one thing then you decide to buy something else like chips lollies and a drink with the leftover change.  Imagine if you didn’t and you saved this loose change.  You would be able to save up a good amount to buy something you really want.  A pair of shoes?  Game?

Looking closely at the specials at the local supermarket can help a lot too.   You can compare prices of items.  Deciding which is best for your budget. comparing to all items to see which is the best cost quality and price.

How I spend money. I spend money on clothes shoes and lunch for school or some time I buy lollies and chip or I give it away.

Polyfest

Yesterday morning making our way into the street (Main Entrance of the Senior Block)  we were getting ready to go to the Polyfest. It was so exciting! Stepping up each step in the bus everybody already started talking about Polyfest.

Once we got there we had to go through security check. It was freaky to be honest. But I was lucky I got through. We then got seated and listened to one of the Polyfest members welcomed us there.

My favorite things there were getting prizes from ASB bank and also spending time with radios 103.8 NIU Fm and 95.8 Flava Fm! They were cool and inspiring. I had such a great time at the Polyfest. I can't wait until next year!

                                        Polyfest 2015

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!

I'm excited because tomorrow the pt england yr7and8 are going on a trip to the asb polyfest.
Before we go there we have to pack heaps of lunch and a full water bottle. Polyfest is a traditional pacific thing, It only starts once a year and four days.

The winning team gets certificates, trophies, and they're famous.

Jab The Mascot.

This is Jab. Jab got his name from the boxing move. He is the mascot of the Glasgow Commonwealth games. Jab is wearing blue and white. This represents the colours on the Scottish flag. His skin is green because his older brother is the loch ness monster. He is dressed in a boxing uniform because he likes boxing but he is pretty average at it. Instead, he supports other athletes to do well. Jab also has the important job of hyping up the crowd.

Echolocation.

Echolocation:

What is echolocation?
To my understanding “Echolocation” is the use of sound waves to tell the distance between human and animals and any objects. Echolocation is mainly used by blind animals or human in many different ways. They can use echolocation to find their needs, for example food and water or to get away from dangerous objects or enemies.

It is a very big challenge to use echolocation but blind people have learned to trust themselves. Blind people and animal can use their senses to see instead.
